BBQ Cook-off (IBCA Event)

We will be hosting our cook-off on July 3rd, 2021. This cook-off is IBCA sanctioned and will follow IBCA Rules. The cook-off will be held at The City of Trinity Community Center 604 S. Robb Street, Trinity, Texas 75862

Entry fee for this cook-off is $250.00.  All checks should be made payable to: City of Trinity.  Entry and payment deadline will be Friday, July 2nd, 2021 @ 9pm. 

*Paying by check deadline is Friday, June 18th, 2021 @5pm.  This will ensure time for your check to clear prior to the event.

 

CASH PAYOUT

 

Jackpots will be:

 

            Friday Night: Chef’s Choice and Margaritas (2 events)

            $25.00 Entry Per Event (100% Payout)

 

            Saturday Day:  Beans and Bloody Mary (2 events)

            $25.00 Entry Per Event (100% Payout)

 

            1st thru 3rd payout for Jackpots.  Payout to be determined by number of entries.

 

 

Fireworks show will be on Saturday, July 3rd @ DUSK.

 

Rules & Regulations:

 

  • The City of Trinity will not be held responsible for any theft, damage, or bodily injury.
  • Teams consist of one (1) Chief Cook and no more than four (4) assistant cooks. All cooks must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • No pre-cooked meats will be allowed. Pre-seasoning is not allowed.  All entries must be cooked on site, the day of the contest. There will be a Chief Cook's meeting on Friday, July 2nd, 2021 @ 6:00 pm 
  • Teams are to prepare and cook in a sanitary manner at all times. Cooking conditions are subject to inspection by the judging committee. Infractions identified by the committee chairman shall be immediately corrected or the team will be subject to disqualification.
  • Fire must be wood or charcoal. Pit may include gas or electricity to start natural substance, but not to complete BBQ meat cooking. Beans and open category are exempt. Holes or open pits are not permitted for cooking, however recreational fires are allowed in a suitably designed fire pit or ring.
  • Teams are encouraged to bring a fire extinguisher.
  • Each team is allowed space for a pit, plus sleeping quarters (consisting of a motor home, pull trailer, or tent) in the cook-off area. A minimum of one (1) pit per space is required.
  • Decisions of the committee chairman and judges are final. BBQ Chairperson reserves the right to make additional rules and regulations as situations may warrant. Anyone violating cook-off rules may be disqualified.
  • The Chief Cook is responsible for the conduct of their team. Each team is responsible before, during and after the cook-off in cleaning up their assigned area. Please do not leave loose or bagged trash at or around your assigned space. Bring your own trash bags.
  • Entry fee is non-refundable. All teams must submit original entry form and sign liability release. Contestants or members of the public will be allowed to bring golf carts, motorcycles, carts, and bicycles.
  • Quiet time begins at 12:00am. All city ordinances will be followed.
  • *BYOB CANS WITH KOOZIE OR CUPS REQUIRED. No bottles in public consumption.
  • Jackpot Rules
    • Chef’s Choice – anything goes; no dessert and must be cooked on site
    • Margaritas and Bloody Mary’s – anything goes as long as the lids goes on the cup
    • Beans – start with dried pinto beans, anything goes

 

 

Teams are welcome to stay Thursday, July 1st thru Monday, July 5th.

 

Three (3) types of sites:

 

1.  Limited 30amp Power + Water sites available (1st to pay has first rights to electric and water hookups)

 

2.  Shared water and limited power access. (Extension cords needed)

 

3.  Approximately 4 acres of open field w/ No Water or Power (However, wash stations will be available.)

 

*Generator allowed in all areas.

 

 

Facilities include:

 

            Large, air-conditioned meeting hall

 

            Playground for kids

 

            Nice and clean air-conditioned bathrooms

 

            Nice and clean air-conditioned showers

 

Sewer dump site available after event.

 

            Lots of shaded areas

 

Exxon/McDonald’s next door to the event.  Dairy Queen, Sonic, Subway, Firehouse Pizza, Brookshire Brother’s Grocery, and Dollar Store within walking distance.  Three cafes, one steak house, one donut shop, and three Mexican restaurants in town.  Several small boutique shops in town.

Awards for both Kid’s Que and IBCA BBQ time to be determined.

 

There is a limit of only 20 Junior Cooks.
